Beautiful, genuine, hand made Batik from Java. Tuli is the Indonesian
word used to describe a batik that is totally handmade by kanting the
wax on the material. It is not made by stamp or by mechanically printing
onto the material. This is the traditional and most labour intensive
way of making a batik.
From Central Java, most likely
Yogyakarta, this one is a nice old soft cotton with a light beige/cream
background and parang motif in blue and yellow. It is very beautifully
drawn in all natural dyes and in very good condition.
A Kain is a piece of material about 2 or a bit more metres in length. This one is 109cm high by 204cm long.
